The Arts and Me
I am interested in seeing what I will be learning in this course to better use art to help teach in the future. I have always loved art and always enrolled in art classes both in and out of school growing up. I agree that it's a great way for people to express themselves and learn from others. I believe it can also be a great stress reliever because it has helped me in the past to relax and have fun creating something.

Final Reflection: My Journey Through the Arts this Semester
I still have a deep love for the arts. This course has opened my eyes to all the different ways and possibilities that the arts can be used to help teach and engage students. However, having the chance to use the arts to teach in field and for my engaged learning project I realized how difficult it can be to incorporate the arts into lessons. Some lessons were easier than others to incorporate the arts. I found that in math it was more difficult for me to find a way to incorporate the arts than in Literature. Time was also a recurring problem. It was always difficult to tell how long it would take to do a lesson. For one lesson we ran out of time and for another lesson it went longer than expected but luckily we still had time to continue with the lesson.

However, I know that the students enjoyed doing lessons that incorporated the arts. The students I worked with for my engaged learning project absolutely loved the activities I had them do. They looked forward to seeing what they would get to do for the next lesson when I came in. So now I know students are more engaged and enjoy learning more when the arts are used, especially the younger grade I worked with. Since students are limited to how often they are given the opportunity to more or to do something other than complete worksheets I could tell they enjoyed the change. My goal or plan is to do my best to use the arts in my lessons when I can. I also want to work on giving clear directions and expectations when I do choose to do them. Sometimes things got a little out of hand or there was some confusion. Overall, I enjoyed having the opportunity to do this.
